Blood Alcohol Limits QLD
Queensland has four blood alcohol limits: the ‘no alcohol’ limit (0.0 BAC), the general alcohol limit (0.05), the middle alcohol limit (0.10), the high alcohol limit (0.15). All drivers with learner’s permits and those with provisional, probationary or restricted driver’s licenses must adhere to the ‘no alcohol’ limit of 0.0 BAC. This means that a person holding a leaner’s or a provisional license must not drink at all if he is going to drive so that the alcohol content of his blood is zero. A person holding a motorcycle license must also adhere to the ‘no alcohol’ limit during his first year of riding.
Other drivers who must adhere to the ‘no alcohol’ limit are: drivers of trucks, buses, taxis, limousines, and other public passenger vehicles, tow trucks, tractors and semis. Those drivers carrying loads of goods must also adhere to the ‘no alcohol’ limit along with driving instructors and those escorting an oversized vehicle.
The alcohol limit is the number of grams of alcohol per 100 milliliters of blood. When your blood is analyzed and yields the result of blood alcohol content of 0.01, then this means that there are 10 milligrams of alcohol in every 100 milliliters of your blood. When you drink, your blood alcohol content rises and it will continue to rise until after an hour when you stop drinking. Don’t drink and then drive.
